Morris did not feature for Wales under Steve Hansen |
Lions prop Darren Morris' international exile looks set to be ended by new Wales coach Mike Ruddock. "We will be looking to tighten our scrum and will consider all options," Ruddock told BBC Sport Wales.
"Darren Morris is in the equation, we have good reports from his coaches and conditioners at Leicester."
Morris, 29, last played for Wales in November 2001 against Australia and never featured under coach Steve Hansen, who questioned his fitness.
The lack of a strong-scrummaging, mobile tight-head stymied Wales' Six Nations challenge, their scrum suffering as loose-head Gethin Jenkins was moved out of position.
"We have not given up on Gethin as an option at tight-head, and the fact that he plays both sides of the scrum definitely helps his cause," said Ruddock.
Morris, who has 15 caps to his name and made the Lions tour to Australia in 2001, can also play both loose-head and tight-head and is regarded as a destructive scrummager.
Ospreys tight-head Adam Jones will be back to fitness after missing Wales' last three matches and looks a certainty for the summer tour to Argentina and South Africa. Chris Anthony has been in impressive form for the Dragons, currently coached by Ruddock, but he is not considered the strongest at the set-piece.
Wales also hope to have Chris Horsman (Warriors) and Duncan Bell (Bath) in contention for the number three jersey next season after they complete residential qualifications.
The Welsh Rugby Union face a battle with the International Rugby Board over Bell, though, who toured with England in 1988.
"Duncan's eligibility is unclear and we are in discussions with the IRB," said WRU general manager Steve Lewis.
"Hopefully we will know one way or another within the next few days."
