Pennell hoping for Warriors improvement

Worcester Warriors' versatile back Chris Pennell has signed a new two-year deal at Sixways.

The Worcester-born 22-year-old, who can play at full-back, wing and centre, is a product of the club's academy.

Pennell made his Premiership debut for Warriors against Bath on the opening day of the 2007/08 season.

"I really love it here, I'm Worcester born and this is my team. I want to play a big part in bringing this club a lot of success," he said.

Pennell has made 36 appearances for Warriors, and has scored 42 points, including their only try in Saturday's 17-5 defeat by Gloucester in the LV= Cup.

With the length of contract he has signed, I would expect him to make many more appearances and become a key member of our squad.

Mike Ruddock

He spent half of last season on the sidelines with a knee injury after damaging his cruciate ligament against Bucuresti in the European Challenge Cup.

Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock was delighted Pennell had agreed new terms at Sixways.

"Chris has made fantastic progress with his all-round game," he said.

"With the length of contract he has signed, I would expect him to make many more appearances and become a key member of our squad going forward."
