Gavin McCallum scored a brace against Lincoln to guide Hereford to their first league win in six games.
McCallum rifled home from close range after 29 minutes as Lincoln struggled to create chances in the first half.
The hosts sealed the win on 55 minutes when McCallum drove a shot into the far corner of the net after a weaving run by winger Marc Pugh.
Lincoln came close to getting back into the game but Lenell John-Lewis headed against the bar.
Hereford manager John Trewick told BBC Hereford & Worcester:
"The fact we have had a lot more away games than home games and the way our away form has been has put us under a little bit of pressure league-wise.
"But we have four of the next five at home so what we have to do is build on the home form and this result.
"We need to play with the same spirit, determination and tempo and if the players do that then I will be well pleased."
Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire:
"First and foremost, I don't think we played well enough to take anything out of the game. I wouldn't say Hereford thoroughly deserved the victory but we have to do better.
"I said earlier this week that if we lose certain players we were going to struggle and that was evident tonight.
"We missed the drive of Chris Herd in the middle of the park and we missed the quality which Matt Saunders has had, but we'll just have to patch things up and do our best.
