Worcester number eight Matt Cox celebrates his third try against Madrid.

Worcester Warriors back row Matt Cox is keen to keep his place for Friday night's final European Challenge Cup group game at Montpellier (1830 GMT).

Cox has had limited chances this term, but the 21-year-old made an impact with a hat-trick of tries in Saturday's 54-3 win against Olympus Madrid.

"I'm just keen to get out and play in Montpellier," Cox told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "I want to cement my place.

"It's about backing it up. We need to go there and perform well."

Cox might have grabbed a second-half hat-trick against Madrid, but was more pleased with his team's shut-out.

"I'm happy to win and to get on the scoreboard a few times," said Cox. "I had some banter with Jake Abbott about scoring tries.

"But the big message this week was a no-try mentality. It doesn't matter what the score was or how many we got, it was all about conceding no tries.

Hopefully we can back up the performance against Madrid

"We let them have a try when we were over in Spain and the coaches were not very happy as we made a few silly mistakes.

"We managed to keep the screw on them and then, in the second half, we tightened it and gaps started to open up."

Warriors have confirmed that they will again rest key players against Montpellier.

Warriors skills coach Matt Powell told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "It will be a bit of a mixture - there are guys who deserve a place and hopefully they can back up the performance against Madrid.

"Pat Sanderson, Tom Wood and Greg Rawlinson needed some rest.

"We felt it was good for Sam Tuitupou and Alex Grove to get a game.

"And there will be guys who need another game. It's a long way to go in the middle of the season without a game."
