Early call-off saved Hereford money, says Graham Turner
Graham Turner's Hereford have had only one home game in six weeks.
Hereford United chairman Graham Turner has revealed that an early postponement of Saturday's game saved up to £5,000.
The Bulls' League Two home game against Morecambe was called off on Friday lunchtime due to a frozen pitch.
That enabled the Lancashire club not to travel - and Turner admits that it was the only sensible decision to make.
"If the match is postponed we have to pay their travel expenses and have to pay their overnight accommodation," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"And we delayed the programme being printed, so we stopped that too.
"All in all, an early decision probably saved us in the region of four or five thousand pounds, which we appreciate.
"Our concern now is making sure we play against Crewe on Tuesday night.
"The last home league match we had was on December 5th.
"Normally that would mean a serious cash flow problem for most clubs, but fortunately we've been a little bit prudent in our spending so it isn't a disaster.
"But we want to be playing. And I think we have a good chance of going ahead on Tuesday."
The Bulls are due to face Crewe Alexandra, postponed from New Year's Day, at Edgar Street, on Tuesday night (19 January, 1945 GMT).
