Mujati joined the Cape Town-based Stormers in 2008

Northampton Saints have signed South African international prop Brian Mujati on a two-year contract.

The 24-year-old Stormers front row made 12 appearances for the Springboks in 2008, including Tri Nations matches and in the UK autumn internationals.

Mujati will join the Saints after the conclusion of his 2009 Currie Cup campaign with Western Province.

"I am excited about playing in England. It will be a new experience and challenge," he told the club website.

Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder said: "Brian is one of the rising stars of South African rugby and I am delighted that he is coming to Saints.

"Although he is relatively young for a prop he has amassed a good deal of experience in the Super 14 and playing for the Springboks, and he can play on both sides of the scrum."

Mujati could possibly face his future team-mate Euan Murray over the summer as the Scotland and Northampton prop has been selected for the British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa.
