Leicester Tigers have named the Rugby Sevens squad

Leicester

Leicester Tigers have named their squad for Friday's northern leg of the Premiership Rugby Sevens.

The Tigers face Sale Sharks, Leeds Carnegie and Newcastle Falcons in this new competition.

The squad include forwards Tom Armes, Jimmy Stevens, Matt Everard and fly-half George Ford in a team led by Academy Manager Neil McCarthy.

McCarthy told the club's website: "Sevens promises a lot of running rugby and so we are looking forward to it."

He added: "Some of the senior academy guys in the squad have experienced first-team rugby and are hungry to make an impression.

"We've got forwards like Matt, Armesy and Jimmy with decent pace and they have come through a good year with the development squad, so they will be keen to keep going."

The squad also includes Liam Holder, Gerard Mullen, Rob Conquest and Rory Lynn who all gained experience with the development squad last season.
