Harrison has represented England at U16, U18 and U20 age groups |
Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill says scrum-half Sam Harrison must prove he has the talent to fill the void left by the retirement of Harry Ellis. Ellis has had to quit because of injury and Cockerill said Harrison, 20, will get the chance to dislodge Ben Youngs and James Grindall from the first team. Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "Sam will get his opportunity. He will come into the squad full time. "He has got to step up to the plate and prove himself." But Cockerill is confident Harrison has what it takes seize his chance. "Sam has done it at the age groups for England; he has come through our system and is very Harry Ellis-like in lots of ways," Cockerill added.
