FRIENDS PROVIDENT t20, Trent Bridge: Leicestershire 145-5 (20 ovs) beat Nottinghamshire 107-9 (16.4 ovs) by 23 runs (D/L) Match scorecard
McDonald has played four Test matches for Australia |
Andrew McDonald starred as bottom-side Leicestershire earned a rain-affected 23-run win over FP t20 North Group leaders Nottinghamshire. The Australian all-rounder hit an unbeaten 58 from 48 deliveries in the visitors' total of 145-5. He then picked up career-best figures of 5-13 as Notts slipped to 107-9 off 16.4 overs before rain ended the match. The win keeps Leicestershire's quarter-final hopes alive, while Notts go through after Lancashire's defeat. With rain threatening to fall throughout the match, Leicestershire were taken to what proved to be a winning score by McDonald, Will Jefferson (33) and Brad Hodge (21). Notts did just enough to stay up with the required Duckworth-Lewis rate early on despite losing Ali Brown, Alex Hales and Matt Wood in the space of four overs. But Samit Patel drove to deep cover to become McDonald's first victim and, when David Hussey fell to his fellow countryman soon after, Notts quickly subsided.
