Gloucester to hold Saracens crowd review - Ken Nottage

Gloucester will review crowd handling procedures following obscene chanting from sections of the Saracens support at Kingsholm on Saturday.

But managing director Ken Nottage said he did not want to segregate fans.

"We are going to take professional advice before we play Saracens to have our procedures reviewed once again," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"We're able to have fans sharing space on terraces. It would be a very sad day if rugby were to see segregation."

He added: "One of the qualities the sport has is we don't have to have segregation."

So far there has been no comment from Saracens on Saturday's events.

Supporters on message boards for both clubs condemned the group of supporters who were thought not to be regular fans of Saracens.

Nottage apologised to Gloucester fans and insisted the stewards' policy of not ejecting the group from the ground avoided further ugly scenes.

"We had a fine win, and yet the day was spoiled by a bunch of fans that were there just to create as much noise and aggravation as they could," he said.

"I have been in touch with my equivalent at Saracens to see what they know on the matter - we're going to have a good look at all that before we make further decisions."
