Olly Morgan set to be fit for Gloucester pre-season

Gloucester's medical team have revealed Olly Morgan should be fit for the start of the season after shoulder surgery.

Morgan is not taking part in any summer tours, so the full-back has undergone the operation to correct the problem.

"We've taken the opportunity to perform a relatively minor procedure on his left shoulder," Gloucester physio Bob Stewart told the club website.

"Morgan will gradually progress back into full training with a view to being fully fit for the pre-season games."

Scrum-half Dave Lewis has also gone under the surgeon's knife, having an operation on his back which gave him trouble towards the end of last season.

The operation should rectify a disc lesion in his lower back that did not respond to treatment, leaving surgery as the last resort.

Stewart says Lewis should also be fully fit for August:

"He too has made an excellent recovery in the early stages and will again progress through the various stages of rehabilitation with a view to being fit at the same time as Olly."
