Gloucester close to signing new lock

Redpath has been chasing a lock to complete his squad

Bryan Redpath has revealed Gloucester are closing in on signing a new lock forward to complete their squad.

Head coach Redpath has said he wants to strengthen his second row options after the departures of Marco Bortolami and Adam Eustace.

"Hopefully by the middle of next week we'll have something to announce," Redpath told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"Hopefully that'll help some of the concerns about certain positions in the forward pack."

One player who has been linked with a move to Gloucester is Edinburgh's Jim Hamilton, although Stade Francais are also thought to be interested in the Scottish international.

Gloucester have refused to comment on their interest in Hamilton.
