Rabeni has won 26 caps for Fiji |
Leicester legend Bleddyn Jones has questioned Gloucester's decision to sign Fijian centre Seru Rabeni. Rabeni, 30, is joining Gloucester after four seasons with the Tigers. "The contribution in his early years with Leicester was immense, and in the 2007 World Cup he would have been in your best XV," Jones told BBC Sport. "But since then he has been injured and suspended and I think he's past his best. Leicester obviously think they have got the best out of him." Jones, who played over 300 games for the Welford Road club and has been a commentator for BBC Radio Leicester for the last 20 years, believes the Tigers will have the better end of the bargain if Anthony Allen moves in the opposite direction. | 606: DEBATE |
Allen, who has three England caps to his name, is one of a host of players who have been released by head coach Dean Ryan and the 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Heineken Cup finalists. Jones added: "The one thing that goes in Rabeni's favour is that he does cross the gain line, but you know what he's going to do. "Allen is a creative player and that's what Tigers are looking for. "Sam Vesty and Dan Hipkiss are hard players and straight runners, while Aaron Mauger and Allen would compliment them. I think he would fit in well."
