Gloucester release Allen and Lamb

Anthony Allen
Allen played for England in 2006 but his career has stalled since then

Gloucester have continued the overhaul of their squad after a disappointing campaign by offloading five players.

Centre Anthony Allen, who has three England caps, and winger Mark Foster are both out of contract.

Fly-halves Ryan Lamb and Willie Walker have been released along with former Leicester prop David Young.

The quintet follow Jack Adams, Gareth Cooper, Jack Forster, Carlos Nieto and England international duo Olly Barkley and Iain Balshaw in leaving the club.

Allen has been tipped for a move to Leicester, whilst Lamb has been linked with London Irish.

Walker, who has been on loan at Worcester, is expected to make that move permanent.

Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan promised he would rebuild their squad after a heavy 50-12 loss to Cardiff Blues in the EDF Cup final.

The Cherry and Whites have already signed Leicester centre Seru Rabeni, Wasps wing Tom Voyce and Blues fly-half Nicky Robinson.
