Satala scored two tries in 22 matches for Gloucester in his first season |
Gloucester have secured the services of Apo Satala for a further season. The former Leeds player, 30, joined Gloucester in the summer of 2008, initially on trial, after starring for the Army in the Middlesex Sevens. That deal ran for a year, but the Fijian flanker has agreed a new one-year contract to stay at Kingsholm after making 22 appearances this term. Satala, who started 14 games for Gloucester and scored two tries, will remain available for key Army fixtures. Head coach Dean Ryan said: "I would like to thank the Army for their continuing co-operation in allowing this deal to happen. Apo has quickly become a key member of our squad." Satala, an infantryman in the Royal Scots, recently helped the Army to victory in their annual fixture against the Navy at Twickenham. He will represent them again in the Rome Sevens before looking to add to his four Fijian caps in the Pacific Nations Cup over the summer.
