Richards is leaving Grenoble a year before the end of his contract |
Former Leicester coach Dean Richards is to leave his post as general manager of French side Grenoble. Richards, who has been strongly linked with Harlequins, joined Grenoble at the start of the season on a two-year deal.
There was a release clause should they be relegated and it has been exercised by mutual consent, even though the club could still avoid going down.
Richards will stay at Grenoble until the end of the campaign and will be at their next match against Bayonne.
The former England captain was axed as Leicester director of rugby in February last year after 23 years at the club as player and coach.
He coached the Tigers to four league titles and two Heineken Cup successes in seven years.
Richards has been linked with a director of rugby role at Harlequins, although their relegation from the Zurich Premiership has left their future plans in doubt.
