Toulouse got their Heineken Cup campaign back on track with a hard-earned victory over battling Leeds.
The defending champions knew victory was essential after a surprise opening defeat in Edinburgh last weekend.
But they were made to sweat for it by the Tykes, who restricted the home side to a solitary late try from France centre Yannick Jauzion.
Test colleague Frederic Michalak landed four penalties, with Tim Walsh slotting one for Leeds' sole reply.
The visitors were not overawed by a boisterous 12,500 crowd in the Stade Ernest Wallon, and were camped in Toulouse territory in the opening quarter.

But they could not capitalise on their dominance up front, with the Leeds backs unable to put enough phases together to get on the scoreboard. Michalak landed two penalties as the defending champions moved up a gear and might have scored a try through Jauzion.
It took a professional foul from Tykes full-back Dan Scarbrough - which earned him a yellow card from referee Nigel Owens - to prevent the score.
But Michalak kicked the ensuing penalty to give the home side a 9-0 interval lead.
Jauzion, whose powerful running earned him the man-of-the-match honours, had a try disallowed in the right-hand corner for a deliberate obstruction by his centre partner Benoit Baby.
Referee Owens then issued two more yellow cards out as the scrum collapsed, with Leeds prop Gary Powell and Toulouse counterpart Patrice Collazo sent to the sin-bin. Michalak and Walsh, on as a replacament, traded penalty goals in the third quarter before Jauzion finally crossed the Tykes line in the final minute.
Toulouse replacement Yann Delaigue added the conversion.
