| Friday, 10 January, 2003, 22:06 GMT Sharks storm to victory ![]() Titterell is tackled by Glasgow's Gordon Bullock Heineken Cup - Pool 3 Sale Sharks 45-3 Glasgow Sale clinched the first victory of their debut Heineken Cup campaign to send Glasgow crashing out at the pool stages. Mark Cueto, Steve Hanley, Jason Robinson, Andy Titterell, Vaughan Going and Charlie Hodgson all ran in tries as the Sharks carved open their opponents at will. And with Hodgson bagging 15 points in a flawless kicking display, there was no let-up for the hapless Scots. Glasgow opened the scoring with a Tommy Hayes penalty that bounced through the posts off the crossbar.
But their lead did not last long as Sale hit back with two well-worked tries in the space of four minutes. Cueto notched the first in the 18th minute, coming in off his wing to gather up a flat pass from Hodgson before barging his way through. Hanley was then the grateful recipient of some more quickfire handling as he went over for his side's second try. Hodgson added both conversions and booted a penalty to push the Sharks into a 17-3 lead.
The home side were down to 14 men before halftime when second row Dean Schofield was sin-binned for an infringement at the ruck. But they continued to open up the Glasgow defence, grabbing their third try of a night through Robinson just four minutes after the break. After Hodgson's conversion, Sale were soon back on the rampage, with hooker Titterell going over. Substitute Going grounded a Hodgson kick in the 72nd minute to wrack up another five points. And then it was all Hodgson, with the England man scoring a late touchdown which he also converted.
