Vagabonds suffered a seventh straight South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One defeat, losing 13-3 at home to Glossop. The Isle of Man side, ninth in the table, were beaten by 12th-placed Glossop at Ballafletcher in a game they really would have expected to win. "We're disappointed to lose," said Vagabonds captain Leigh Kennaugh. "We simply weren't good enough and Glossop wanted it more on the day." Saturday's victory was only Glossop's second league win of the season. In a tight match, the home side trailed 8-3 at half-time, a Jonny Beckley penalty keeping them in contention. But Glossop claimed a second try after the break to seal victory. Both of the Manx sides in Division Two lost away from home. Douglas were soundly beaten 44-18 at Trentham, whilst Ramsey went down 33-25 at Southport. Despite the defeat, the northerners remain seventh, 20 points ahead of Douglas in ninth. Elsewhere, Ramsey B won the first silverware of the domestic season when they beat an out of sorts Vagabonds B 30-8 to secure the BSM Manx Plate.
