Safety still possible for Launceston - Tom Rawlings

Launceston

Launceston captain Tom Rawlings believes there is still a chance his side can stave off relegation.

The Cornish club are 12 points adrift at the foot of National One with only eight games of the season remaining.

Rawlings told BBC Cornwall: "It would be very easy to turn around and say that's our season done - but it's not.

"We've got eight games left with 40 points available, and we're going to come out flying. We're going to fight until the bitter end."

Rawlings continued: "The guys look sharp, they know that a win is really close, we're going to get a win soon."

Launceston went down to their 15th defeat of the season last weekend against Macclesfield, losing 29-27 at Polson Bridge.

Rawlings said: "I've been amazed at the work rate and the effort that the players put in.

"Even though we're down at the bottom, they keep chugging along, they keep fighting, the keep battling."

Launceston are away at ninth-placed Coventry on Saturday.
