Roberts also plays full-back for the National One club |
Launceston joint-head coach Mal Roberts says nothing less than a win will do on Saturday against Cinderford, as his side battle against relegation. Launceston are bottom of National League One, 20 points adrift of safety, with just 12 games remaining. The club have been propping up the table all season having lost 20 points for going into voluntary liquidation. Roberts told BBC Radio Cornwall: "If we don't beat Cinderford I think that's pretty much it." He continued: "It's going to be a big ask to survive if we fail to get a result on Saturday. | It's pretty crucial to get everyone packed in at Polson and enjoying a spectacle |
"When we play against sides that are around the foot of the table we need to start taking points off them and not allowing them to get away and get more daylight between ourselves." Cinderford are also at the wrong end of the league, in 13th place, just above the bottom three and the relegation places. In the season's first meeting between the two sides last October, Launceston picked up a rare away win, storming to a 24-14 victory as Richard Bright and Roberts scored two tries apiece. Roberts added: "It's pretty crucial to get everyone packed in at Polson and hopefully enjoy a spectacle. "It is a really passionate crowd that we've got at home and when they get behind us it's worth an extra five to 10 points." Launceston lost 27-16 in their last league outing to leaders Barking, while Cinderford beat Tynedale 32-5.
