Roberts says League One sides travel further than Premiership teams |
Launceston's head coach Mal Roberts says there are no excuses for his side's poor away record, ahead of their trip to Sedgley Park this weekend. The Cornish side have only won once on the road this season, away at Cinderford in October. Roberts told BBC Radio Cornwall: "At home we play some great rugby but away from home we tighten up a bit. "I think a lot of it is to do with the travel. It is probably the most travelled league in rugby." He added: "At the end of the day anyone can come up with a number of excuses, but it is all about going away, putting the performance in and getting points." | It is going to be difficult to get results and get ourselves out of the position we are in |
Saturday's match in Lancashire is the first of two tricky away games for Launceston, who then travel to top of the table Barking the following week. "There are no easy games in our league this year," Roberts continued. "It is going to be difficult to get results and get ourselves out of the position we are in, but we'll fight to the bitter end." Launceston remain rooted to the bottom of National League One, 14 points behind Cornish rivals Redruth.
