An injury-time try from Newport's Adam Broad brought the Cornish Pirates' unbeaten run in the British & Irish Cup to an end at Rodney Parade on Friday. Two tries from Tyrone Holmes put the Pirates 17-13 ahead at half-time, with Matt Evans touching down for Newport. Further scores from Chris Morgan and Tom Luke gave the visitors a 32-20 lead with just five minutes remaining. But Newport kept pressing and were rewarded with tries from Evans, Andrew Brown and Broad to take the spoils. Gareth Bowen kicked two penalties and a conversion for the home side, with Matthew Jones picking up three conversions. Rob Cook secured two penalties and three conversions for the Pirates. Despite the loss, the Pirates remain top of Pool A after four matches, while Newport stay third.
