Vagabonds Ladies have won back-to-back promotions |
Vagabonds Ladies were narrowly beaten 30-15 at Fleetwood Grasshoppers on Sunday in a closely-contested match. The result leaves the Manx side sixth in the RFUW Championship North Two table, having suffered defeats in both their opening two games. Novocastrians Ladies top the table with four wins out of four. "The performance was superb and the team are making progress but it is difficult not playing every week," coach Darrin Cook told BBC Sport. "It is difficult to get momentum going when you don't play week in, week out. "The improvement is there but it is like constantly playing the first game of the season." The Manx side will not play again until February, their next two fixtures having been postponed by their opposition. Tries from Fran Hunt and Rachel Beckley gave the Manx side an early advantage on Sunday, but the hosts fought their way back into the game. Fleetwood pushed on in the second-half and, despite a further try from Hunt, it was the visitors who finished the stronger to record their third win of the season.
