Vagabonds Ladies finished their 2009 fixtures in style on Saturday with a 27-5 home victory over previously unbeaten Morpeth Ladies.

The win sees the Isle of Man side stretch their advantage at the top of RFUW National Challenge North One to nine clear points.

Vagabonds coach Darrin Cook said: "We knew this would be our toughest test so far and it was.

I am over the moon with the performance we gave, it was highly accomplished."

Captain Fran Hunt scored four tries despite carrying an injury.

We are growing in confidence with every performance and we would relish the opportunity to play at the highest level

Vagabonds will next face Eccles on 17 January.

The Manx side are only two victories away from achieving back-to-back promotions under the guidance of Cook.

He added: "We are growing in confidence with every performance and we would relish the opportunity to play at the highest level."

The Manx side are currently just three divisions below the RFUW Premiership.

Vagabonds now have a break from matches until January but they will be training hard to keep the momentum going to ensure that their winning streak continues in the new year.
