Oxford avenged last season's defeat to beat Cambridge 21-10 in the 129th annual Varsity Match at Twickenham.
Backs Alex Cheesman and James Crozier went over to give the Dark Blues a 15-3 lead at half-time, fly-half Charlie Marr kicking a conversion and penalty.
Cambridge skipper Jimmy Richards helped pull the Light Blues back into the game when he converted a penalty try which added to his earlier place kick.
But two further Marr penalties was enough to give Oxford the win.
Oxford University captain Nick Haydon told BBC Oxford: "It's very pleasing, we've put a lot of hard work into the last 12 months.
"We went into the game with a simple plan. We wanted to win the collision and keep our defensive line strong. The only try they scored was a penalty try.
"This surpasses all my achievements. To represent Oxford University is a great honour, and to lead the side is a very special moment."
Cambridge University full-back Jimmy Richards told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The boys are so disappointed, and there's heartbreak in the dressing room.
"Oxford did well, they stopped us from playing our game and we couldn't get anything going.
"Every game's got its losers but we'll keep our heads high. I couldn't be more proud of what we've achieved this season."
