Wright has made 34 appearances for Oxford United

Oxford United boss Chris Wilder says he is hopeful that central defender Jake Wright may return from injury quicker than expected.

The 24-year-old broke his fifth metatarsal during the U's 2-1 win at Chesterfield last month and was expected to be sidelined until January.

Wilder told BBC Oxford: "We have good vibes about how the operation went and hope to get him up as soon as possible.

"Fingers crossed we get him back before the six weeks."
