Oxford United will be without central defender Jake Wright for up to eight weeks with a foot injury.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury during the U's 2-1 win at Chesterfield last week and a scan has shown he has fractured his fifth metatarsal.
Oxford boss Chris Wilder said: "The results of the scan are obviously disappointing for Jake and for us.
"He had worked hard to get back into the team and back to fitness, so it's bad timing for this to happen."
The former Brighton defender had only recently returned from a back injury but Wilder insists his side will cope without their vice-captain.
"As we showed in the rest of the game at Chesterfield last week, this is a squad game and it means others will get a chance to show what they can do."
