Pirates cup tie against Currie switched to Cornwall

Cornish Pirates

Cornish Pirates' British & Irish Cup tie against Scottish side Currie on Saturday has been switched to Cornwall.

The tie was scheduled to be played at Currie's pitch, Malleny Park, but a thick covering of snow has made the surface unplayable.

Officials from both clubs decided on Wednesday that the match should be moved to Cornwall.

The Pirates have said it will cost them £14,000 to host the match, as they are paying for Currie's flight.

The club's have also agreed to share the takings from the gate at the Mennaye Field.

The Pirates are the holders of the British & Irish Cup, having beaten Munster 23-14 in May's final.
