 Vagabonds move up two places after the victory |
Vagabonds moved up two places to ninth in South Lancs/Cheshire Division One after earning a valuable home win against Bowden on Saturday. The Manx side overcame their opposition 20-13 at Glencrutchery Road and captain Kevin Birchall said it was a much better performance than recent weeks. "I was made up with all the lads. We really needed a win and they delivered the goods," said Birchall. Vagabonds first win in five matches draws them level with Wigan. Birchall added: "We had the measure of them on Saturday and we've got a bit more strength in depth this season.  | Bowden were very physical but we stood up the challenge well |

Meanwhile, Ramsey and Douglas both suffered away defeats in Division Two. Ramsey lost 23-11 at Trentham after playing most of the game with 14 men after skipper Will Keenan was dismissed. The northerners are now seventh in the table, five places above Douglas who lost to bottom side Wallasey 7-0. Elsewhere, Southern Nomads moved top of the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield after a 17-3 victory over Castletown. The win puts Nomads back on top of the standings as title chasing Vagabonds B had their game postponed. Ramsey B picked up their first win of the season when they beat Douglas B 36-26 in the BSM Manx Plate Preliminary Round.
