The darts competition will have a 500 prize fund |
The island's darts players will descend on the Manor Hotel in Willaston on Saturday for the annual Billy Moughtin darts tournament. Last year Colin Tyrer won a second consecutive men's title with Sarah Corkhill taking the women's crown. Organiser, Rob Corrin told BBC Isle of Man: "We're expecting another record entry this year and it's shaping up to be a great competition." Signing on begins at 1300 GMT with the tournament starting at 1400 GMT. The competition is held in memory of Billy Moughtin, a popular local player, who died in a car accident in 2005. "Billy was a really good darts player, footballer, musician and friend. "We set up the tournament in his honour and I think he would have loved it. I used to play with Billy at the Forresters, he really enjoyed his darts," added Corrin. The competition will have a £500 prize fund donated by Heron and Brearley and all proceeds from the tournament will go to Rebecca House.
