Fitton reached the semi-finals of the world championships in January |
Stockport's Darryl Fitton beat a world-class field to win the Isle of Man darts championship men's singles title at the Villa Marina on Sunday. Fitton threw exceptional darts to beat reigning BDO world champion, Ted 'The Count' Hankey 3-1 in the final. Joining Fitton on the podium was Welsh international Julie Gore who won her third consecutive Manx title. The Isle of Man's Colin Tyrer produced some superb form to reach the last eight of the men's singles. Tyrer beat several world-class opponents on his way to the quarter-finals before he was knocked-out by eventual winner Fitton. "Colin is a great player and I have watched him develop over the past few years," said Fitton. "He was particularly impressive at the Europe Cup and is improving all the time."
