Taylor is a four-time Premier League of Darts champion |
Phil Taylor has vowed to knock Mervyn King from the top of the Premier League of Darts after Thursday's 7-7 draw between the two men. King angered the world number one when he began to throw his darts while Taylor was bent over collecting arrows he had dropped at the board. "I am determined to get better," said the 14-time world champion. "I'll be trying everything to get above Mervyn at the top of the table and keep my Premier League title." Taylor had led the match 4-1, but at 7-5 down found himself having to win the final two legs in order to claim a share of the points. In the 13th leg, King missed two darts at double 16 to take the match to allow Taylor to checkout double two and force a decider. In the final leg, Taylor found a much needed 180 followed by double ten for a two-dart checkout of 80 to claim a share of the points. The result sees Taylor slip to third in the Premier League table, behind King and James Wade.
