Taylor has won all four Premier League titles so far

Defending champion Phil Taylor suffered his first defeat of the 2009 Premier League Darts season with an 8-4 loss to James Wade at Belfast's Odyssey Arena.

The four-time champion said: "James was the better man. He held his throw well and I couldn't break back. I missed some doubles but I'll be back."

The Stoke man is second in the table, three points behind leader Mervyn King who maintained his 100% start.

Taylor's next match is against King on Thursday in Newcastle.
