Potters' defence impresses Pulis

James Beattie's fifth Stoke goal helped the Potters to a 2-0 win

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis praised his team's defensive performance in their 2-0 home win against Bolton.

Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: "One or two players got injured so we've had to adjust, but the spirit was brilliant again and the clean sheet is pleasing.

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game, because Bolton have been one of the form teams in the Premier League."

Goals either side of half-time from James Beattie and Ricardo Fuller moved the Potters up to 15th in the table.

The last time Stoke won a match by two clear goals was the 4-2 Championship victory over Wolves at Molineux on 9 February, 2008.

The Premier League takes a break for the FA Cup quarter-finals next weekend, so Stoke's next game is against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday 14 March.

Pulis was disappointed that his team would not be able to build on their three-match unbeaten run until the trip to Merseyside.

He added: "I find it difficult to accept that we've got another 10 days off.

"This game could have been played on Friday or Saturday and it would have kept the season going, but I'm sure there's reasons behind it."
