Delaney's side are now third in Pool B of the Championship play-offs
Nottingham's director of rugby Glenn Delaney has criticised his side's inconsistency as defeat to Doncaster almost ends their semi-final hopes.
Delaney's side lost 25-14 to Doncaster, and they now need to win at Exeter and hope London Welsh lose to Doncaster, to reach the Championship final four.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We can't have the boom-bust performances we've had in the last few weeks.
"We've got to get a level of consistency back in this club".
Nottingham dominated possession for large parts of the game against the Knights, but a young back line was unable to make the visitors pay.
"I think we made enough line breaks to score far more points but our composure just let us down when we needed to be executing the final stage," Delaney added.
"Our back line was very young and to be honest they showed their inexperience, and when we went behind the young players struggled with what to do next."
The Green and Whites' points came courtesy of tries from Greig Tonks and Tim Streather but these scores came from glimpses of individual skill in what was collectively a disappointing performance.
Nottingham must now win away at the Exeter Chiefs next weekend in order to stand any chance of progressing to the semi-final stage of the Championship play-offs, and Delaney recognises that most people will now write his side's hopes off.
"We'll go down there as an absolute underdog probably with no pressure on us which is great and I think that's the best place for us to be," he said.
