Cornish Pirates' play-off ambitions suffered a set-back as they went down at Bedford.

The home side looked stronger from the outset, running in three first-half tries to lead 19-13 at the break.

It was more of the same in the second period as Bedford added a further three touchdowns to the Pirates' one.

Bedford's tries came through Luke Fielden (2), James Pritchard and Myles Dorrian (2) with Dorrian adding two conversions and a penalty.

Rob Cook and Rob Elloway were the try scorers for the Pirates, with the rest of their points coming from Cook's boot.

The result sees Bedford go second in the Pool A table, level on points with leaders Bristol, whilst the Pirates are now third, five points behind the top two.
