A rampant Jersey (in red) have now won 24 league games in a row |
Jersey Rugby Club secured their 24th consecutive win after a 84-13 win over mid-table Tring. Following their title and promotion win last week, Jersey put away 13 tries, nine of them in a frantic second half. There were two tries each for Sam Tuia, Paul Rogers, Donovan Saunders and substitute Charlie Clyde-Smith. Jersey's final league encounter in a fortnight is home to Bracknell, the only team to beat them, and that was on the very first day of the season. Following recent criticism of the vocal support at St Peter, coach Ben Harvey was full of praise to the 1,000 crowd. "Terrific support, nice big crowd, and they made their presence felt," he told BBC Jersey. And he was just as happy with his team's showing. "Played some fantastic rugby, especially in the second half," he said. "I put the lads under pressure at half time and told them they'd have to go for it, and to score over 50 points second half, brilliant." According to Harvey, there'll be no let-up either before the end of the season. "Four big games left, one in the league, and we're hoping to win them all."
