New Cambridge coach Bob Crooks believes his side need to improve their discipline if they are to progress.

Crooks took charge of the team after James Shanahan quit in February but he was unhappy with elements of their 35-10 win over Nuneaton on Saturday.

"I'm not going to accept stupidity, the boys must show some discipline," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"There are too many penalties, we've got to sharpen up because we're giving away too much possession and pressure."

Crooks went on to appeal for better game management from match officials following three Cambridge yellow cards and a subsequent red for influential lock Karl Rudzki.

"We're starting to put our game together - we just now need some consistency from referees," he added.

"But we've had a fantastic week's rugby and overall I'm happy."
