Moore is returning to Lancashire to pursue a career in accountancy

Cornish Pirates utility back Jimmy Moore has announced his retirement from rugby after failing to respond to treatment for an ankle injury.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Pirates in 2006, has decided to pursue a career in accountancy.

Moore played 94 games for the Pirates at both wing and fly-half.

Pirates chief executive Rod Coward said: "The club greatly appreciates Jimmy's contribution during his time with the Pirates."
