Redruth were made to work hard to beat fellow National One strugglers Blackheath at the Rec on Saturday. In the first half, the Reds built up an 8-6 lead, thanks to a try from flanker Mark Bright and a penalty by fly-half Brett Rule. Blackheath's points came courtesy of the boot of fly-half Paul Humphries. After the break, the visitors camped themselves in the Reds half, but a heroic defensive effort ensured the Cornish hosts held out for the win. Rule scored the only points of the second half, kicking a penalty shortly after the restart.
