Cornish Pirates slipped to a narrow defeat against Leinster in the British & Irish Cup despite a spirited display at the RDS Arena.

The Pirates found themselves 9-3 in arrears after Leinster full-back Shaun Berne kicked three penalties.

After the break a converted try from Pirates' captain Gavin Cattle gave the Cornish side a 10-9 lead.

But Leinster regained the advantage after a fourth penalty from Berne and then held out until the final whistle.
