Luctonians lost their first four league games |
Luctonians made it four wins from four in National Three Midlands with a shock 13-12 win at Luton. But Malvern, Bromsgrove and Hereford all suffered defeats in the same division. Lucs trailed 9-0 at Luton before Jamie Simpson landed a penalty. Lean Mells got over for the only try of the game before Simpson landed a vital penalty to take Lucs to victory at Luton for the first time. Hereford were beaten 31-18 by Hinckley at Wyeside, despite a fine showing from Dean Powell, who registered a try, two conversions and two penalties. Bromsgrove went down 28-21, Hinckley at Finstall Park and drop to fourth in the league table. | It was a shame to come such a long way and return with nothing Malvern boss David Robins |
Malvern trailed 18-0 at Peterborough before they began a comeback, with tries from Ed Binham and Gareth Taylor, plus some reliable kicking took them to just three points behind the hosts. But a last-minute try from Peterborough ended Malvern's hopes of a victory. Director of rugby David Robins told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "Had we scored again after putting all the pressure on them in the second half, we would have taken the honours. "It was a shame to come such a long way and return with nothing. "I felt that our lads outshone them up front technically, giving away a lot of weight but shoving them back repeatedly and doing well in the line as well."
