Vagabonds Ladies earned a hard fought 10-0 victory at home to Blaydon Team Northumbria Ladies II in appalling conditions on Saturday. The Manx side were ahead within five minutes when captain Fran Hunt scored a superb try which Cat Beswick converted. The Northumbrian Ladies threw everything at the Manx side but Darrin Cook's side showed total commitment in defence. Beswick expertly converted a penalty late on to seal the victory. Cook said: "This was a real test for us and everyone contributed to an excellent victory. "In all my years of coaching I have never seen a team defend as well as that." The Manx side, who gained promotion in their inaugural season, now top RFUW National Challenge North One.
