Vagabonds disappointing start in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One continued on Saturday after the Manx team lost 35-0 at Winnington Park. Club captain Kevin Birchall says despite the poor results the future looks bright. "No one likes losing and it is frustrating but we're going through a transitional phase and trying to build. "We've got some exciting new players coming through, so hopefully the results will improve soon," he added. Meanwhile, in Division Two, Douglas moved second following a 34-12 home victory over Moore. Elsewhere, there were victories for Vagabonds B, Southern Nomads and Douglas B in the opening games of the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.
