Cornish Pirates have signed South African flanker Tyrone Holmes to complete their 32-man squad. The 23-year-old has played for Western Province and Toulon and spent five months with Northampton Saints. He told the club website: "Joining the Cornish Pirates offers me a fresh challenge and another opportunity to learn new things."
Holmes, whose father is from Scotland, has also represented his country in the Ice Hockey World Championships. "I hope to bring something valuable to the squad and the club, whilst my aspirations are to achieve my goals as a professional rugby player and to play in a World Cup," he added. Pirates high performance manager Chris Stirling said: "We are delighted to have signed Tyrone. "The coaching staff are very happy with the mix and breakdown of the squad. It blends a mix of youth and experience."
