Paves tries to blast through the Moseley defence
We will go north with optimism and a willingness to work our hardest to get a result

Hello and apologies for my absence last week.

Well, what a couple of weeks it's been. It's been a pretty horrible time for the whole squad recently, but not as bad as it's been for the supporters I'm sure.

Well first things first. The Bedford game.

Bedford are always difficult opponents and this match proved to be no different. After playing up the hill and with the gale the first half we ended up going in all level at 0-0.

Expecting the worst in the second half we went out determined to perform. We did this to an extent and turned in what was a very good forward performance.

Unfortunately it wasn't sufficient and we were narrow losers, going down 6-5. The boys were pretty shattered after the game and extremely disappointed to have lost.

The next week and our most recent match brought Esher to Camborne Rec. This was a game we were widely expected to win.

Unfortunately Esher hadn't heard that and played with some real passion and skill to turn us over. I think it is fair to say, we didn't play well and the intensity we have brought to our recent defensive efforts was sadly lacking.

The week that just passed was spent with the players having some time off. Often this can be seen as a strange decision what with the performances of previous weeks. Given the training that we've done so far this week though, I think it was a good idea. Time will tell of course!

Most of the boys went home for a few days while they've had a chance. With accents recharged, our cosmopolitan squad were back on form with the French not understanding the Welsh, the Samoans not understanding the Namibians and nobody understanding Brian Tuohy!

The second loss in two weeks left the supporters and the team massively deflated. This was compounded by the week off and the lack of opportunity for us to rectify the situation.

That opportunity comes this week in the shape of Leeds Carnegie. Not the easiest of propositions given their pedigree and them wanting to make up for recent poor results.

We will go north with optimism and a willingness to work our hardest to get a result.

Hopefully we will give our terrific supporters something to shout about and a reason to pack in to Camborne for our next home game.

Grind On,

Paves.
