Baxter is relishing the challenge of the new cup |
The Exeter Chiefs are one of three South West sides that will compete in the British & Irish Cup next season. They will be joined by the Cornish Pirates and Plymouth Albion in the newly-formed 24-team knockout contest. Chiefs acting head coach Rob Baxter said he was looking forward to playing against new opposition. "The prospect of taking on sides from Ireland, Scotland and Wales makes this a very exciting challenge for our club," Baxter said. "The new fixture list will throw up games against some of the most famous names in the sport, and that's something I'm sure our supporters will be looking forward to." All 12 clubs from the English Championship will take part in the competition, alongside six from the Welsh Premiership, three Irish provinces and three Scottish sides.
