Barnes extends stay at Plymouth

Barnes has had loan spells at Oxford, Salisbury and Eastbourne

Plymouth Argyle' promising young striker Ashley Barnes has extended his contract until 2011.

Barnes has been an impressive addition to the side, since returning from a loan spell at Eastbourne in January.

Barnes' partnership up front with Jamie Mackie was cited by manager Paul Sturrock as one of the key features of the Pilgrims' Championship survival.

The 19-year-old first came to the club in 2007 when he was bought in by former manager Ian Holloway.
