Paul Buckle has guided the Gulls into the play-off final
Torquay will face Cambridge United in the Blue Square Premier play-off final after securing a 2-1 semi-final aggregate victory over Histon.
Neil Andrews scored the only goal of the game for the home side on 16 minutes but Torquay advance courtesy of their 2-0 victory in the first leg.
Stutes captain Mathew Mitchell-King almost forced extra-time.
But his shot hit the bar, enabling the Gulls to make it through to the final at Wembley on Sunday week (17 May).
The Stutes took an early lead when Andrews found the net from 10 yards, after the Gulls had failed to clear a high ball into the box.
Andrews then went close again eight minutes before the break with a shot on the turn but it hit Torquay defender Chris Todd before being cleared to safety.
Histon dominated the opening half, regularly pegging back the visitors and putting them under pressure with direct balls into the box. But clear chances on goal were few, their only shot on target being Andrews' 16th-minute goal.
Tim Sills' header could have allowed Torquay to regain their two-goal cushion, had he not put Kevin Nicholson's free-kick wide.
Wayne Carlisle also went close moments later as his shot was deflected to safety by Gareth Gwillim for the Gulls' first corner of the game.
The home side pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, Mitchell-King's shot going just inches away from putting the Stutes into an extra 30 minutes.
But Torquay held firm to move to within 90 minutes of a return to the Football League.
